Custom Lyra and Bon Bon by thelovecat Custom Lyra and Bon Bon by thelovecat
These are customized blind bag My Little Ponies meant to look like background characters Lyra and Bon Bon from MLP: FIM. Their hair has been sculpted with Sculpey clay from Rarity and Applejack to look more like the characters. Painted with acrylics, and sealed with Testors Dullcote.

They are for sale on Ebay. [link]

I don't bake the sculpey... Instead, I boil water in a pot on the stove, and use tongs to hold the pony in the water, for only about 15 seconds at a time. I pull it out of the water, check the softness of the clay, and dip it in again. For itty bitty sculptures like this, the boiling water will harden the clay in about a minute. It takes a little longer with thicker/bigger clay pieces, but you just have to keep checking it.

I have heard of people putting the ponies in the oven, so I know its possible, but you run the risk of melting the plastic if you're not careful. Boiling water is a safer bet to me and I've been doing it for years.

Hope that helps!

thank you SO much! I'll definitely will use that method! I'm making a brushable lyra out of a rainbow dash mcdonald's toy, so i filed down the wings, but i didn't know how to make the horn. Thanks SO much, though! I'd like you to see the lyra when it's done.
